We are incredibly excited to announce that JEM Productions is graduating to its very own dedicated engineering domain: Broadcast.tools!
Don't worry, these tools will always remain free and accessible. We are simply moving to a better name that fits our global audience of video engineers. In the coming days, this entire site will automatically redirect to the new domain. No action is required from you, and all your bookmarks will continue to work perfectly!
Engineering Excellence: SMPTE, SRT & XR Genlock Overhaul
The second phase of our 2026 technical audit is live. We've upgraded our core calculators to "Broadcast Grade" accuracy:
- Timecode Calculator: Now follows the SMPTE 12M standard for frame-accurate Drop-Frame (DF) and Non-Drop-Frame (NDF) math.
- XR Tracking Latency: Added Genlock Phase Offset calculation and hardware presets for Mo-Sys, OptiTrack, and Stype.
- vMix Streaming Planner: Integrated SRT Pro-Transport logic, including RTT-based buffering (4x RTT) and a Connectivity Wizard for firewall traversal.
- Audio Latency: Added Dante Network Hop diagnostics to evaluate switch hierarchy jitter impact.
Technical Accuracy Audit & Content Overhaul
Completed a site-wide engineering audit of all broadcast tools and guides. Fixed critical mathematical errors in the Bitrate Calculator and NDI Network Planner. Rewrote 10+ technical guides (PTP, IGMP, SRT, Fiber, Codecs) to replace generic text with professional insights and "Pro-Tips" from our broadcast engineers.
Audio Test — "Pro" Upgrade & Diagnostics
Huge upgrade to the Audio Test & Tone Generator. Added a real-time Goniometer (Phase Meter) for stereo correlation, a 32-band Spectrum Analyzer (FFT), and automated Logarithmic Sweeps (20Hz-20kHz). We've also added broadcast reference level buttons (-18dBFS / -20dBFS) for precision calibration.
Genlock vs Timecode — Deep Content Update
The Genlock vs Timecode Visualizer has been significantly expanded. Added a real-world scenario decision table (when you need each), four FAQ entries with technical answers, and replaced generic placeholder text with accurate engineering content covering Tri-Level Sync, LTC, VITC, and PTP in IP workflows.
New Secure Contact System
To better support the community, we've launched a dedicated Contact Page. Behind the scenes, the entire site was stripped of hardcoded email addresses to prevent spam. Instead, we now use a 100% static, serverless AJAX backend powered by Web3Forms for secure, asynchronous messaging directly from the browser.
Navigation Upgrade & UX Overhaul
Released a major redesign of the Homepage and About page to improve speed and navigation. Introduced a new "Quick Ref" section for instant data lookup (latency milliseconds, network load bandwidth, and genlock logic). Simplified the UX across all menus.
Updated vMix Planner & SuperSource Builder
Improved the vMix Streaming Planner and the ATEM SuperSource Builder tools. These updates resolve complex real-time output planning issues and enhance visual framing capabilities directly within your browser.
Expanded Deep-Dive Calculators Added
Launched the new Video Bitrate Calculator, alongside deeper A/V synchronization and latency calculation tools. The new latency converter seamlessly translates samples to milliseconds across 48, 96, and 192 kHz sample rates without refreshing.
